LENOVO PHAB 2 PLUS IS AN ENORMOUS 6.4 INCH DUAL CAMERA MOBILE

Lenovo has launched its Phab 2 Plus smartphone  in India with AR ready Dual rear camera. The smartphone is priced at Rs 14,999 and availability is exclusive to amazon.

The Lenovo Phab 2 plus carries a large 6.4 inch screen with Full HD resolution and a pixel density of 344 pixels per inch. The screen comes with 2.5 D curved glass finish. The sides of the bezels are blackened to give it a bezel free appearance.  The display is enormous and it is a bulky smartphone or better to be called as a phablet. There are very few smartphones with screen size above 6 inches like the Xiaomi MI max or Sony XA Ultra.

The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek MT8783 Octa-core processor with a max clock speed of 1.3 GHz. It is a new 64 Bit processor from Mediatek and Lenovo Phab 2 Plus is one of the first smartphones to use it.

The smartphone comes with 3 GB RAM and offers 32 GB internal storage space. It also supports an external SD card for further expansion. But there is no dedicated slot for the SD card, and you have to use either a micro-sd card or a SIM in the second SIM slot.

The Phab 2 plus runs on Android marshmallow 6.0 with a slight customization of the UI by Lenovo. The smartphone carries some UI tweaks to ease single hand usage. Still there is no heavy bloating of the UI by Lenovo as use to be the case a year back.

The smartphone comes with a uni-body metallic design. The rear of the phone has a slight curve to offer a better grip and make it easier to use. A fingerprint scanner is provided at the back of the smartphone, below the Dual camera set up.

The Lenovo Phab2 Plus offers dual camera set up, with a 13 MP main sensor. The pill shaped camera setup holds to camera lens for clicking vivid images. The front camera is 8 megapixels with f 2.0 aperture to click selfies.

The camera app comes with AR mode, the AR mode enables you to keep a subject (like animation) within the camera view and click the photo (which this is similar to Pokémon Go’s AR feature.)

Lenovo has mentioned that the smartphone is using a Fujitsu milbeaut image processor on this smartphone, which according to Lenovo will improve low light capabilities, and capture DSLR type images

On the connectivity front the smartphone comes with 4G support, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS for navigation.

The smartphone carries a 4050 mAh battery pack, which is adequate for the smartphone’s configuration.

The Lenovo Phab 2 Plus competes with the Xiaomi Mi Max which also comes with an enormous 6.44 inch display and is priced similarly at Rs. 14,999.

The Xiaomi Mi Max is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor which is much faster and powerful compared to the Mediatek 8783 but on the other hand the Phab 2 Plus allegedly offers better camera quality compared to the Xiaomi device. It will be a tough choice to pick one over the other if you are shopping for a large display smartphone.
